How Your Air Conditioning System Can Keep You Healthy

If you live in a place with lots of warm weather like Jupiter, Florida, air conditioning is essential for your health. Trying to tolerate hot summer days will make you feel tired and sluggish. You could also get serious health problems such as heat exhaustion. Infants, older people, and those with health issues are most at risk. Air conditioning benefits your health by improving your indoor air quality, preventing illnesses, and increasing comfort for you and your family.

Better Indoor Air Quality

With an air conditioner, you won’t have to open your doors and windows to stay cool. You’ll get less pollen, dirt, dust, and other pollutants in your home. You can also avoid asthma and allergy symptoms like eye irritation, sneezing, sore throats, or runny noses. All HVAC systems come with an air filter to catch contaminants, and you should change it once per month for healthy air.

Fewer Illnesses

Some air filters can catch bacteria along with dirt and dust. They also help you prevent colds and other illnesses. Separate air cleaners with similar filters are available as well. You can also add a UV lamp to your HVAC system’s ductwork or your outdoor unit. It will keep small organisms like viruses, bacteria, and dust mites from reproducing and prevent biological growth in your ductwork.

More Comfort

Being too hot can make concentrating on routine tasks and finding the energy to complete them difficult. It can also make getting a full night of sleep challenging. You could also have trouble operating electronics like your TV or your computer if the temperature inside your home is too high. Warm, humid environments without air conditioning can also damage wood furniture and floors and encourage pests like cockroaches and silverfish.
