A Glimpse into Cloud Lake's Past

Cloud Lake holds a fascinating history, platted in 1935 by twin brothers Kenyon and Karl Riddle. They envisioned a community of "Suburban Homes" and even created the town's namesake lake from the fill removed to build the Seaboard Air Line Railroad overpass. The name "Cloud Lake" itself is a nod to Seminole Chief Yaholoochee, or "The Cloud." This unique origin story gives Cloud Lake a distinct character, a quiet area with a rich past. The town hall went through a renovation and you can see it on Lang and Shannondale. With a large portion of the area comprising Cloud Lake, not many people live in this town of .1 square miles.
