4 Common Signs You Need a Heat Pump Repair Immediately
When the heat pump in your Jupiter, Florida, home needs repair, oftentimes there are signs you can look for. If you notice any of the following signs that your heat pump needs to be repaired, it may be time to call your HVAC technician.
Skyrocketing Energy Bills
If your electricity bill seems unnaturally high this month, your heat pump may be trying to tell you it needs help. When your heat pump’s health declines, it has to work harder to perform the same job.
Compare this month’s bill to the amount you paid around this time last year. If it’s significantly higher and you’ve haven’t changed your heating and cooling habits, it may be time for a heat pump checkup.
It Doesn’t Cool Your Home Well
This may be an obvious one, but it’s worth mentioning. If your heat pump isn’t cooling your home like it used to, it may need a repair. However, this doesn’t always mean your heat pump is to blame. Check your thermostat’s settings and your air filter’s health to see if the problem is an easy fix or you need your unit inspected.
It’s Making Noise
One sign of disrepair is strange noises coming from your heat pump. These noises are not something you simply have to live with. They’re often a sign that something is wrong with your system and it needs to be looked at. If you hear metallic sounds, such as scraping and clanging, you should call for a technician as soon as possible.
It Smells Bad
Not only is a smelly heat pump unpleasant, but it might be a sign of a health concern. If there’s an unpleasant earthy smell coming from your heat pump, you should try to get a technician to come and clean it soon. If your heat pump smells like something’s burning, stop using it immediately and call a technician.
